Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Read through our FAQs
How fresh is your coffee?
Every bag of ARDITO is roasted in small batches and shipped within days of roasting. You'll find the roast date printed on every bag, because freshness isn't a detail, it's the foundation. We recommend enjoying your coffee between 7 and 21 days post-roast for the best flavor.
Where is your coffee sourced?
We work with a trusted network of growers, large and small, who share our commitment to quality and care. Our beans are sourced from farms that prioritize sustainable practices and consistent harvests. We believe great coffee starts long before the roast. It starts at the source. You can read more on our sourcing standards page.
What roast levels do you offer?
We offer a range of roast levels, from light and nuanced to medium and balanced, to dark and full-bodied. Each roast is developed to highlight the natural character of the bean, not to mask it. If you're unsure where to start, our medium roasts are a great introduction to what ARDITO does best. Browse the full lineup.
Whole bean or ground, which should I choose?
We always recommend whole bean for the freshest cup. Coffee begins to lose its complexity shortly after grinding, so grinding just before brewing makes a noticeable difference. That said, we offer pre-ground options for convenience. Just let us know your brew method and we'll grind accordingly.
What grind sizes are available?
ARDITO recommends purchasing whole beans and grinding to your brew type. Our pre-ground coffee is ground to a medium to medium-fine setting, best for drip brewing.
How should I store my coffee?
Store your coffee in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, ideally in an airtight container. We don't recommend the freezer for everyday coffee, as repeated temperature changes can affect flavor. A pantry or countertop away from heat works well. Use within 4 to 6 weeks of the roast date for best results.
Do you offer subscriptions?
Yes. A subscription is the simplest way to make sure you never run out of fresh coffee. Choose your roast, your grind, and your frequency, and we'll handle the rest. Subscribers also get priority access to new releases and seasonal offerings. Learn more about our coffee subscription.
How long does shipping take?
Orders are typically roasted, packed, and shipped within 2 to 4 business days. Delivery times vary by location, but most domestic orders arrive within 3 to 7 business days of shipping. You'll receive a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way.
What if there's an issue with my order?
We stand behind every bag we send. If something isn't right, whether it's a shipping issue, a quality concern, or anything else, please reach out to help@arditocoffeeroasters.com and we'll make it right. You can also review our return policy for full details.
How do you approach sustainability?
Sustainability is something we think about at every step, from the farms we partner with, to our packaging choices, to how we manage waste in our roasting process. We're a small operation, and that means we can be intentional about the decisions we make. We're always looking for ways to do better, and we're transparent about where we are in that journey.
What is the best coffee for espresso?
For espresso, you want a coffee with enough body and sweetness to hold up through the pressure of extraction and cut through milk if you're making lattes or cappuccinos. Our NERO is built for those who want bold intensity, with dark chocolate, molasses, cedar, and toasted walnut. Our VELOCITÀ is specifically crafted for milk-based espresso drinks, sweet and balanced with a smooth finish. Both are excellent starting points. Shop espresso coffee.
How long do roasted beans stay fresh?
Roasted coffee is at its best between 7 and 21 days after the roast date, depending on the bean and roast level. After that, oxidation gradually flattens the flavor. This is why we roast in small batches and ship direct, so your coffee arrives in that peak window. Always check the roast date on the bag, not just a best-by date. Learn more about why fresh roasted coffee makes a difference.
Why buy from a local coffee roaster?
Local roasters roast more frequently, ship faster, and are accountable to their community in ways national brands aren't. When you buy from a local roaster like ARDITO, you're getting coffee that was roasted recently, not sitting in a warehouse for months. You also get transparency about sourcing, roast dates, and quality standards that mass-market brands rarely provide. Learn more about what makes local roasters different.
Do you roast to order?
Yes. We roast in small batches and fulfill orders as they come in, which means your coffee is roasted close to the time it ships. This is the core of what we do. Freshness isn't a feature we added, it's the reason ARDITO exists.
Whole bean or ground?
Whole bean, whenever possible. Coffee starts losing complexity within minutes of grinding, so buying whole bean and grinding just before brewing makes a real difference in the cup. If you don't have a grinder yet, we offer pre-ground options. Check out our brew guide for grind recommendations by brew method.
How should I store coffee?
Keep it in an airtight container, away from heat, light, and moisture. A pantry or cabinet works well. Avoid the freezer for everyday coffee since repeated temperature changes introduce condensation and can dull the flavor. Use within 4 to 6 weeks of the roast date for the best experience.
Do you deliver to my area?
Yes, we ship fresh-roasted coffee nationwide. ARDITO Coffee Roasters is an online-only roastery based in Dearborn, Michigan, and every batch is roasted to order, so your coffee ships at peak freshness wherever you are in the country. Local to Metro Detroit? It gets to you even faster.
Is your coffee organic?
Our Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Chelbesa is Grade 1 certified organic coffee, grown by more than 760 smallholder farmers in the Gedeb region at 1,950 to 2,200 meters above sea level. Every ARDITO coffee is also third-party lab-tested for mold, mycotoxins, and heavy metals, so you know exactly what's in your cup.
Do you have a physical store I can visit?
No. ARDITO is an online-only roastery with no brick-and-mortar storefront. We roast in Dearborn, Michigan and ship nationwide, and you can meet us in person at local events like the Plymouth Fall Festival.
